Lewy Body Dementia Family Caregiver Study (Univ of TX)

Hugging coupleResearchers at the University of Texas (Austin) want to better understand the day-to-day experiences of people who are caregivers to someone who has Lewy body dementia (LBD).  They are seeking to enroll the primary family caregiver who lives with someone with LBD.

Caregivers wear a Fitbit to monitor heart rate, physical activity, and sleep for four days.  For caregivers, there is a lengthy phone interview (1-1.5 hours) and brief surveys (five-minute surveys, every three hours, five times/day on those same four days).

The person with LBD may participate by wearing a Fitbit for four days.

Compensation is provided for the various tasks (interview, answering 5-minute surveys, and wearing a Fitbit).  Anyone in the US may join the research.

Lewy body dementia — an umbrella term that includes both Dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia — is the second or third most common form of neurodegenerative dementia. Learn more about LBD from the Brain Support Network website.
