FTDTalk – “What is frontotemporal dementia?”

I was trying to explain a neuropathology report to a family tonight and ran across the organization FTD talk. Their website is ftdtalk.org. They are a team of researchers based in the UK at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology.  They often partner with the Queen Square Brain Bank, one of the top brain banks in the world.  The FTD talk team blogs about their research, and they have a very dense website.

I ran across this interesting diagram near the bottom of their page on “What is frontotemporal dementia?”

So, back to the family whose loved one was diagnosed with FTLD-TDP43 Type B, it looks like several clinic syndromes can go along with this pathology.  During life, it was thought that the person had multiple system atrophy.  The diagnosing neurologist wasn’t even in the right category of disorders!
