“A quiet day” (The Caregiver Space blog post)

Picture this. A “quiet” day with my husband. Quiet in caregiver world usually means something’s brewing, and sure enough, it did. He slept most of the day, which sounds great, but it just shifts the kind of care you’re giving. Less running around, more… well, more of other stuff.

When he was awake, he kept seeing people who weren’t there, sitting in the family room, having full-blown conversations with them. I just go with it at this point. “Oh, really?” and “Interesting” are my go-to phrases. It’s easier than trying to explain reality. I can’t quite join him in it, like the improv experts say we should. I can at least let him enjoy his company.
